The lake Veluwemeer has clean and clear water; very nice to swim in or drift around on a surfing board or inflatable boat. We also have a canoo or cayak to paddle around the island or cross to the other small island. At zeilschool De Randmeren (which is situated at Flevostrand, where our ferry sails to) it is possible to rent motor boats or sailing boats to explore the whole lake! Of course you are allowed to fish at the island, but you need a special Dutch fishing permit.

Children always enjoy themselves perfecly at the island with sand and water. Everywhere on the island there is adventure: an amazing climbing tree, an exciting path through the nature, a hill with a beautiful view to the lake, the sand field at the tipi’s. And a very relaxing thought for the parents: the children cannot walk away!

Chopping wood, make a fire, roast marshmallows, telling each other stories or playing the guitar whil enjoying a good glass of wine around a comfortable fire…can you picture this?!

In the large Tipi Lounge there are magazines, books, painting colours, games and outdoor games like jeu de boules, kubb, badminton, frisbee, football etc.

In July and August it is possible to pick delicious raspberries and blackberries straight from the nature!

At the island we do organize some activities. Even though all activities are offered in Dutch, some workshops can be attended without understanding our language. Take a look in the News to see which activities will be there soon.

In the surroundings of the island there is plenty to experience.

There is much to do around the lake Veluwemeer, where you can easily go by ferry for a day or a part of a day to the mainland.

Water sports on the Veluwemeer
The lake Veluwemeer offers many recreation possibilities. On one side of Flevoland there are numerous beaches, harbours, fishing opportunities and nice docks. The beach water is shallow making it ideal for families with small children, windsurfers, rowboats, water bicycles and canoes. For transit water traffic, special routes have been designated while water ski?s and speedboats have there own designated areas.

Cycling and hiking
In the surroundings of the lake Veluwemeer there are lots of possibilities for hiking and cycling in the polder land, offering magnificent panoramic views. You can cycle along the lake to small fishing villages like Harderwijk and Elburg with their picturesque terraces and shops. For special nature conservation areas in Flevoland see
